Week 2 Running Back Streamers For Fantasy Football: Aaron Jones Is A Sneaky Play

If Week 1 of the NFL season is any indication, points will be aplenty all season. Let’s hope, because fantasy football is more fun that way. Especially if you can find a hidden gem like Devin Singletary outscoring Christian McCaffrey. Let’s see if we can get some hits from players outside the top 24 in our fantasy football rankings now that the calendar has turned to Week 2. Fantasy Football Week 2 Running Back Streamers

Aaron Jones | Vikings at Bears

Aaron Jones came into the season as the RB42 in our season-long fantasy football rankings, with so much of the hype being centered on Jordan Mason taking over a primary role in the Vikings backfield. Mason did get 54% of the rush attempts in the opener, but Jones got 43%. The veteran also saw the only target out of the backfield for the Vikings.

This clearly shows that both RBs are going to get usage, and that HC Kevin O’Connell does not want to overload either back. Now look at the matchup: in Chicago. Caleb Williams will push the Bears offense all day, which will put the Vikings into a passing mode. Look for Jones to be in the game on a lot of passing downs, which could lead to some valuable touches in a back-and-forth game.

Kaelon Black | 49ers vs. Dolphins

Not sure there was a rookie who looked better than Kaelon Black in Week 1. He actually outrushed CMC, 14-10, and had 50% of the total rush attempts in the 27-7 victory over the Rams.

Now look at the matchup. The Dolphins just got run over by Ashton Jeanty to the tune of 29 touches for 147 scrimmage yards and a pair of TDs. This game is in San Francisco and has the home team favored by 13.5. Look for the 49ers to salt away the game with Black taking some touches off CMC’s hands. Doesn’t matter when the points come, as long as they come. Even in garbage time.

Blake Corum | Rams vs. Giants (MNF)

As tough a watch as the Rams were at various points in their opener, Blake Corum actually had pretty fresh legs and looked occasionally explosive. He rushed 10 times for 54 yards, but was on the field only 23% of the snaps. That should rise to something close to a 60-40 split with starter Kyren Williams.

Look for the Rams to force their will on the Giants in their home opener. That will mean plenty of Williams and Corum. With the Rams favored by 7 points, like with the 49ers, there could be some late rush attempts to work the clock.
